Update on our lives...

Okay, so there have been a lot of changes in the past month. The weekend before Chad died, Nate and I had decided to stay here in Vegas. Nate quit his job up in Utah and had his car packed to meet me in SLC for Thanksgiving, the day we found about my brother's death. Instead of me driving up there, Nate met me in Vegas. He is now working at the same law firm I am at, while he is on the waiting list for Nevada Corrections. Hopefully that won't be too long! Anyways... we are now enjoying having Nate back in our home, and Ava is glad to have her daddy back! We now know that there were reasons why we felt so strongly about staying here (despite the $800 a month insurance premiums that his job was going to charge us). I know that I will be able to help out Chad's wife, Cynthia, with my neice Kayden. Chad and Kayden were both really sad when we told them we were moving. I know that he was excited when I told him we had decided to stay!

The next BIG news, is that I forgot to mention that I am PREGNANT! We did an IUI (intrauterine insemination) in October (which I was sure wouldn't work) and I got pregnant the first time! YEAH for us! I am due July 7, but my Doctor said that we would do the C-section on June 27. Since I had a c-section with Ava. I haven't been sick at all this pregnancy (I wasn't with Ava either), just really tired, and I have crazy, severe back pain, like I had with Ava, but not until I was about 5 months along. So, I am hoping that this will be bearable once I get larger. Fun for me! I sometimes forget that I am even pregnant, and it worries me, I have just been really busy with my family alot, but I know that the baby is fine. We will find out what we are having at the end of January. I know that Chad was also very excited that we had finally gotten pregnant, and I know that he is probably telling our child all kinds of stories about our family :)

Oh my goodness, Katie, I am SOOOOO happy for you guys!!!! Wow, that is totally crazy. What is so weird is that as soon as I read about your brother, I immediately thought of him, up there, hand-picking another baby for you. Wow. That seriously made my day!!!

TC's brother's wife just had a baby. She usually has them early on her own, but this one did not want to come out!! Must be hanging out with TC and he wouldn't give him up!! Lucky you are having a c-section! Enjoy your holiday and give your family a big hug from us.

hey, I don't have your number, but I tried to call and say that the treats we left on your door were from US. :) I didn't realize until I was over there, that I didn't have From the Christensen's on it. So I hope you got them.
Have a Very Merry Christmas!! And remember we have Ava's blankie!

Congratulations on the baby! I'm so sorry about your brother. I've been wanting to say that to you, but I never quite know what to say in tragic times. We were coming home Thanksgiving day and saw a vigil at Craig & 95. I wondered if it was your family and then you confirmed it with your pictures. Anyway, I thought of you and your family as we drove by not knowing it was you. I'm excited that you guys are staying in Vegas. We moved to your side of town, so we need to get together. Email me sometime and I'll give you my new address.

Katie-
I am so glad that you left me a comment. My sister Katie and I didn't hear about Chad's passing until the day before the funeral because we were out of cell phone range. I was so sad to not be able to attend his funeral. I had my mom trying to find you so i could send you some condolences but she couldn't and on her way to his funeral she was too overcome with sadness to attend. I am not sure if you know that I too lost my brother, 2 years ago. It is the hardest thing I have ever experienced and I found great peace in the comfort of others. I have often found comfort from Mandy Brown, another person who knows what it is like to lose a brother. I love hearing stories about him, he like Chad, loved nature. He also left a 6 year old boy behind who is such a light in our lives. He is a constant reminder of my brother and a beautiful tangible part of him. He didn't have much but there is no better gift he could have left this earth. I am so sorry for you and your family and have prayed for you often to be able to find peace. Chad was a great friend. So funny, so kind to others. I remember ditching school with him often. Katie and I were talking about how when we first met Chad he dressed like a cowboy. Belt buckles and all. Katie and Chad were dance partners in some roadshow together and he always made it so fun to go rehearsals. Such a great guy.
I hope you keep in touch.
